Chapter 9: Encaustic Painting in Sal-Zar Medium™

Jasper Johns led the way in reintroducing the art world to encaustic painting. His ‘flag’ painting series has been heralded as a modern use of encaustic painting.

I have been working with Sal-Zar™ in encaustic paint for a number of years. I have found that Sal-Zar is an admirable vehicle when working with wax. Encaustic is difficult. Technical discussion of how to do encaustic painting is not the purpose of this chapter. I am assuming that the artist who is interested in this has had experience with encaustic applications on wood and canvas and is interested in how Sal-Zar’s properties can assist him/her in one’s art.

This is not easy to discuss in a written form. It is better to see how I do this. My video covers this and I recommend that you purchase this (when it is available) for details on how to do encaustic with Sal-Zar as the medium
